The Key Role of The Saints Augustine in the Church in Latin America

One of the key marks of the Anglican Church in the 21st century is a global shift of power to the third world. More than half of the world’s Anglicans now live in developing countries of the southern hemisphere—in Africa, Latin America and Asia—and their influence is being felt. The future of Anglicanism is undoubtably tied to the global south.

For this reason, it is crucial for the future leaders of the Church in Latin America to be able to handle the Word of God effectively, to teach the truth with all of its implications, and to refute errors of all kinds. They must have strong foundations which enable them to build up the Church in love and reach out to world with the Gospel. Perhaps nothing will influence these future leaders more than the quality of seminary education which they receive.

The Saints Augustine Seminary seeks to prepare faithful ministers here in the global south who are ready to lead Anglicanism into the future. We have a very special role in that regard, in that we are one of only two established Anglican seminaries in the entire Province of the Southern Cone.

To adequately prepare our students, we need to make a first-world type of investment in their training. We are thankful for our overseas supporters who help provide them with the resources they need to be successful.
