The Saints Augustine is committed to the following core educational values:

  • We seek to uphold orthodoxy by faithfully teaching right doctrine as revealed in Holy Scripture and as received from the Apostles.
  • In our liturgy, theology and spirituality, we promote a healthy balance between the evangelical, catholic, and charismatic strands of worship within the Anglican communion.
  • We encourage students called to both lay and ordained ministry to fulfill those callings, and assist them to discern their gifts and vocations.
  • We work to be culturally appropriate to the Latin American context.
  • We strive to be global in vision, cultivating an awareness of and involvement in the worldwide Church and its mission.
  • We seek to learn in community. This means that we develop positive, on-going, interpersonal relationships such that students may learn from one another and such that the modeling/mentoring process may be realized between our teachers and students.
  • We seek to move students beyond memorization to develop their critical thinking skills, so that they can examine and own for themselves the beliefs of the faith and so that they can reflect upon their experiences in ministry.
  • Through integrated, holistic teaching we seek to stimulate growth in every aspect of our students’ lives, developing the whole person. We want our graduates to not merely have intellectual knowledge, but to be healthy spiritually, emotionally, psychologically, etc. We want them to have a depth of personal spirituality that will empower them in ministry, and a maturity that will show itself in holy living.
  • We emphasize active learning whereby students train in the midst of, and through, practical ministry experience, and where they are given opportunities to use newly acquired knowledge.
  • We use various teaching methods and techniques such that learning is not solely lecture-oriented, but interactive.
  • We seek to make our training relevant, such that our courses enable them to carry out their ministries more effectively; whereby they are equipped to engage the world around them; and where relevant applications are made between ancient biblical truths and contemporary life.
  • We strive to offer a high quality of training at appropriate academic levels.
